Today Microsoft Corp. and NAMCO BANDAI Games made video game history by unveiling the “Pac-Man Championship Edition” — featuring the first new Pac-Man mazes in more than 26 years — available only on the Xbox 360™.
The “Pac-Man Championship Edition” is the same beloved “Pac-Man” game played in arcades of the ’80s but is updated with new features that former “Pac-Man” fanatics and new generations of fans alike will love. It includes new mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and high-definition (HD) graphics. Details include the following:

• Classic 2-D “Pac-Man” presentation with a new, modern look in HD
• Six new, timed game modes:

The Championship Mode. This is the main game mode designed by NAMCO BANDAI Games and Iwatani specifically for the championship round of the Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Championship. This mode – as well as all others within the “Pac-Man Championship Edition” – features redesigned mazes with wide maze walls and a widescreen configuration to better enable high-speed game play. Timed limit of five minutes.

Challenge Mode 1 (Patience and Reward Course). This mode is an evolution of the Championship Mode. Patience mazes strategically offer fewer Power Pellets and Reward mazes provide a large number of Power Pellets – providing unique challenges and rewards for the player. Timed limit of 10 minutes.
Challenge Mode 2 (The Darkness Course). In this mode, only the area directly around Pac-Man and the Ghosts is visible and the maze walls are completely hidden. Timed limit of 10 minutes.
Extra Mode 1 (The Freeway Course). An extremely high-speed mode for advanced players, this mode features warp-speed Pac-Man and Ghosts and plenty of tunnels. Timed limit of five minutes.
Extra Mode 2 (The Manhattan Course). A mode inspired by the streets of Manhattan — the home for the first-ever Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Championship. Timed limit of five minutes.
Extra Mode 3 (The Overall Course). A mix of all other modes resulting in extreme mazes for the most devout Pac-Man fans. Timed limit of 10 minutes.

• Xbox LIVE leaderboards, Achievements and Gamerscore
• Rated E for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board
• Costs 800 Microsoft® Points
• Available for download only on Xbox LIVE Arcade on the Xbox 360 starting at 0900 BST on Wednesday, June 6, 2007

Following a recent trend two more games will release for XBLA this week. Both games are classic titles. The titles will be Rush ‘n Attack and Xevious. Both titles are 400 Microsoft Points each with the usual additions to arcade classics. Rush ‘n Attack is a sidescroller and Xevious is a shooting game with a vertical view. I’m still waiting for Band of Bugs but I guess a double dose of games isn’t that bad though. If your into classics or impulse buying try these games when they release Wednesday. For more details click here. Since its retro title heres a retro picture of Xevious.

Apparently there was a download issue with Eets: Chowdown, some who have purchased it may not of had it download properly onto their Xbox 360 Console. The Xbox Live team went and fixed the problem, so anyone who downloaded it and it won’t work simply delete it then re-download it. If you purchased it you will not have to pay again as always with downloads.

Today Capcom announced four titles that will hit Xbox Live Arcade this year (if certification is the same way it was for Street Fighter II expect the titles in 2008.) Capcom is commiting two games that will be upgraded with HD Graphics and hopefully some leaderboards with Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. They are slated for the summer and fall. The development will be by Backbone Entertainment.

Then Capcom licensed two games Rocketmen: Axis of Evil and Talisman. They were both board games, and like Catan are getting made into XBLA games.

“Boom Boom Rocket” Brings Rhythm to the Night on Xbox Live Arcade
A new original title rockets onto Xbox Live Arcade from Bizarre Creations (the creators of the critically acclaimed “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved”) and publisher Electronic Arts. “Boom Boom Rocket” will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, Apr. 11, at 0900 GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT).

The addictive and original “Boom Boom Rocket” is the first music-rhythm game to appear on Xbox Live Arcade. Players trigger rockets to the beat of the music while traveling through a 3D cityscape. The better the player times the explosions, the more spectacular the fireworks effect. The fireworks are choreographed to 10 original tracks created by Ian Livingstone, who recently scored “Batman Returns” and “Project Gotham Racing 2.”

“Boom Boom Rocket” will be available for 800 Microsoft Points and will first launch in the U.S. Canada, and Europe. The title is rated “E” for Everyone (except in Germany, where it currently is unrated). The game also will be available in the near future in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore Australia, and New Zealand.

Game Features

  • Two single player gameplay modes – Normal and Speed
  • Two single console multiplayer head-to-head modes – Battle and Endurance
    Practice Mode
  • Freestyle mode – No target line or scoring, just mash buttons to create cool fireworks shows
  • Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points

Jetpac Refuelled Fixed April 5, 2007

For everyone who bought Jetpac Refuelled you may have noticed that into the game the theme and gamerpic you unlock were not downloading properly. After some bug fixing Rare worked out the problem. It may not be the easiest solution to get the gamerpic and theme but this is the only way possible below, you need to delete the game and re-download it. It shouldn’t take too long though.

Instructions:

  • Navigate to the ‘System’ blade in the 360 dashboard
  • Select the ‘Memory’ menu option
  • Select the storage device on which ‘Jetpac Refuelled’ is saved
  • Select the ‘Games’ menu option
  • Navigate to the ‘Jetpac’ entry in the menu and select it
  • When you select the ‘Jetpac’ entry, highlight ‘Jetpac Xbox Live Arcade Game’
  • Select and confirm the ‘Delete’ option
  • FINAL STEP: Re-download from the Arcade downloads section of the dashboard to obtain the updated game package
