Taking the Term Exclusive to Far May 14, 2007

I don’t want to complain, NBC was kind enough to put a Heroes theme and picture pack on Xbox Live Marketplace today, with 150 Microsoft Points for the theme and 80 for the picture pack. But there is one slight problem with it, by purchasing it we are essentially giving them ads for their shows on our gamercards. I’m not a big purchaser of picture packs. I just have my Saint Patrick Day and Philadelphia Eagles gamer pictures. But hey, NBC was nice enough to make these pictures that take a few minutes so if you are a fan of the show go and buy the pictures, I love the show but wouldn’t spend money on picture packs of a show. But then again if NBC made The Office Picture Pack I’d put the money down in a second.

Before this post is done I also want to point out Microsoft needs to stop using the term exclusive as much as it has been. Come on, they describe these packs as “Download these exclusive Gamer Pictures…” Well Xbox Live is the only place to get gamer pictures so I would think it is exclusive. While I’m at it here’s another ad for the fantastic show NBC has in a picture. But I know I’ll be watching tonight.

Major Nelson may be gone but I can still give you an update on Xbox Live Marketplace. If you logon you’ll notice there is a Shrek 3 demo. You can play as Puss in Boots or Shrek. It isn’t that good of a game but will keep little kids entertained with it and will have a good level or two in the final product, well hopefully.

A new update will be released for Gears of War soon. Here are the details from Mark Rein over at the Gears of War forums,

“The next title update for Gears of War is currently going through the certification process. We’ll have more detail about the update next week but I can tell you that in addition to fixing a whole bunch of glitches, and providing 720p for VGA users running at 1280×1024, it will contain a brand new multiplayer gametype called Annex.

Some folks who got to play it a few weeks ago said they think it is our best multiplayer gametype yet but I’ll leave it for you fans to decide what you think for yourself when it shows up soon on Xbox Live. More details next week.”

Hopefully there are the new maps and weapons we rumored a bit ago. A new game type is true so whos not to say the weapons and maps aren’t either?

Shiver Now March 27, 2007

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s expansion The Shivering Isles has now been unleashed onto Xbox Live Marketplace at the price of 2400 Microsoft Points. The expansionweighs in at 993.75 MB, not even a gig and people are complaining thatHDDVD should be required for 360 in fear of disc space! I haven’t beat the original content as after a bit it got to long and same old same old but this has completely new environments. More details on the game are here.

Viva Pinata Demo March 13, 2007

Posted by dpcough in Xbox Live Marketplace.

After months of being out and low sale numbers a Viva Pinata demo has finally been put on Xbox Live Marketplace. You know a demo is big (or is needed to increase sales and Microsoft kicked itself for not having it out earlier) when Microsoft sends you a PR on the release of it. This demo will be available in the U.S. only on Tuesday, March 13. Localized versions of this demo will follow soon after in Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. Give it a try to make Banjo’s Dev happy and increase sales on a pretty good game.
